I was born and raised in Glenwood, IA which is only about 30 minutes from Omaha. As like most of the residents in Glenwood, I grew up in the country without a neighbor in site. I met my boyfriend 5 years ago and moved to downtown Omaha, which as you can imagine was quite the change for me. We have since bought a home in the aksarben area and I'm very proud to call Omaha home.
I spent my entire K-12th grade at Glenwood Community High School, where I graduated in 2010. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do at the time of graduating, so I have spent the years since working. I decided about a year ago I wanted to go back to college and graduate with a degree and UNO seemed like the best fit for my needs and lifestyle!
I am currently in the process of changing my major to Business Administration with (hopefully) a minor in non-profit management. Ideally, I would like to work for a nonprofit organization after graduating but if not I have the Business Administration degree as a backup.
I will be honest and say that I have yet to travel outside of the country. I have taken many trips inside the U.S., most recently in this past year to Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Denver. Not only was my boyfriend a military child, he now currently works for the Canada portion of Marriott hotels, so he is constantly traveling around the world. His father currently even lives in Japan! We are very big history and nature people so I’m chomping at the bit to start traveling with him and see these places on my own.
Possibly due to never traveling outside of the country the idea of it is rather daunting to me. I would like to learn how to do the proper research and planning tools to make these trips seem less scary and to feel more prepared. I would like to take a trip outside of the country this year so this class lines up perfectly with that goal.
I have watched An Idiot Abroad and Long Way Round through Amazon.
